The U.S. Department of Justice, through the Office of Tribal Justice, is holding government-to-government consultation on its plan to consolidate the COPS Office, the Office of Justice Programs, and the Office on Violence Against Women into a single grantmaking component, the Bureau of Justice Grants. DOJ states the three components would remain distinct units within BJG and that tribal set-aside funding is not being reduced under the plan.
Two virtual sessions: August 5, 2026, 3–5 p.m. ET and August 6, 2026, 2:30–4:30 p.m. ET (registration requested by August 3). Written comments are accepted through September 4, 2026 to OTJ@usdoj.gov.
